A citizen collective that strives to eliminate single-use plastics in Brussels.
Organising an event? Rent our reusable goblets to avoid single-use cups.
Your business wants to break free from plastics, but you do not know where to start? We’re here to help.
We organise talks, panels, and practical workshops to take steps towards a zero waste lifestyle.
We are Plastic Free Plux, a grassroots initiative that strives to eliminate single-use plastics in Brussels. It all started at Place du Luxembourg in front of the European Parliament in the heart of the city. This iconic square is the place to be for many of the EU officials and bureaucrats for an after-work drink. Unfortunately, all the beverages served outdoors come in single-use plastic cups. We wanted to change that and introduced a deposit-return system with reusable cups. We are currently working together with the bars and breweries to put a permanent solution in place.
SINGLE-USE CUPS AVOIDED
EVENTS TURNED SINGLE-USE PLASTIC-FREE
BARS BROKE FREE FROM SINGLE-USE PLASTICS
Plastic Free Plux’s goal is to eliminate single-use cups on Place du Luxembourg completely, by having a system in place that can sustain itself and is convenient for bar goers and bar tenders alike. Once the square is free from single-use plastics, we will target new neighbourhoods of Brussels. We share our findings and experience with the community, to encourage other citizens to follow suit in their own cities. We dream of a single-use plastic free world where going out does not result in polluting the Earth.
